Gag
On film sets, a gag (or double grip head) is made of dual 2.5″ grip heads joined to a single shaft.
The gag can serve many purposes, such as making a yoke with a grip head at each end, converting a double extension arm to a triple extension arm, and feathering scrims and solids for a graduated lighting effect, without the need for more stands and a larger footprint. Each head can be locked individually.
Occasionally, we’ve heard grips call this item a “lollipop.” We prefer not to use that term because it’s also sometimes used to describe a single 4.5″ grip head.
