Atlas Mercury 1.5x Anamorphic Lenses
The Atlas Mercury 1.5x Anamorphic Full Frame Lens series is designed to capture an intimate image inspired by vintage anamorphic primes. The modern housings and machining allow for a much more practical anamorphic look, with controlled focus breathing, aberrations, and corner sharpness. The lenses are warm and kind to skin tones, with classic horizontal streaks that lean amber; and pleasing abstract flares that occasionally rainbow, particularly in direct sunlight. Bokeh is as expected with a 1.5x anamorphic lens, creating pleasing ovals, with some rounding in the image corners. The lenses are all T2.2, making them exceptionally well-suited for working in low light.
The Atlas Mercury lenses are designed to cover full frame sensors, including the Arri Alexa Mini LF and Red Monstro. They are exclusively PL mount, easily adapted to most mirrorless lens mounts. Despite the impressive performance, the lenses are relatively small, each under 3-4 pounds, and smaller than similar anamorphic lenses. The 1.5x squeeze is a pleasant balance of anamorphic look with a reasonable final aspect ratio for a variety of sensors.
