Iron Glass Modified Soviet Lenses
The Iron Glass modified Soviet lenses are classic Russian Cold War era full frame optics. Designed originally for 35mm still cameras, these lenses have some improvements to make them suitable for modern cinematography, while still using their original housings.
Each of these Russian lenses is based on optical formulas developed in Germany prior to WWII. These are intentionally imperfect lenses, often soft in the corners, and they tend to flare and glare more easily than lenses with modern coatings.
A cine-mod is the addition of cinematography-driven features without a complete lens rehousing. The front of each of these vintage lenses has been stepped up, allowing the use of 80mm clamp-on matte boxes, as well as 77mm round screw-in filters. The focus and iris rings have added 0.8 mod gears, allowing the use of any standard follow focus. The rear of each lens has been adapted to EF, making the lens compatible with a huge number of modern cameras.
